The amazing #Bushwick from a #mobile consumer’s point of view:

If you’re fortunate enough to be a Bushwick business owner or resident you know that people are moving into the neighborhood faster than you can say Knickerbocker.

Sure you might be worried about rent increases but this Bushwick Gold Rush is a great thing for you!

It means more business and more money — Only if you’re ready to take advantage of this golden opportunity.

How?
First you need to make sure people can find you.

If you’re relying on folks walking by your place and popping in, consider this…

I’m someone who moved from a place where there are no security gates hiding amazing places to eat, drink and play. If its closed when we pass, we still peek in and make a mental note to return. Unfortunately, that’s not the reality of Brooklyn.

When I first moved to Bushwick I had no idea there were so many fantastic restaurants, bars, etc. because they’re hidden (see pic) as I pass them during my morning and sometimes late afternoon walks. It wasn’t until I passed late in the evening or at night that I realized there were (what some have become my favorite) places to eat and drink.

But how many visitors and new residents walk the streets at night?

Yes some, but not many — At least not until their comfortable — So they’re ordering delivery or keeping their money in Manhattan.

Wouldn’t you like more of their business (aka $)?

What does Lifestyle Design mean to you?#haveAwonderful

“The notion of designing your life is nothing new and I don’t claim to be a Guru on the subject. Nor do I make any claims that I created the movement.

However, I can claim that my life has changed for the better, once I adopted some basic Lifestyle Design concepts.”

from #Russia to #Bushwick w/love! Why #mobile readiness is SO important…

So we’re hosting a couch surfer from Russia. It’s his 1st time to NY and he of course wants to see, eat, drink and play while he’s here. He arrives and after searching his phone for places to eat, drink and play locally, he asks me if I’d mind quickly showing him around. If I could not, he was just going to head into Manhattan to find something to do.

** You see, it wasn’t really easy for him to find anything online. He found a couple of local websites, but 1) they’re not mobile-friendly. 2) he had to dig through the other stuff to find a directory of businesses. 3) once finding the businesses, he couldn’t really view their sites on his phone.

Now I love Bushwick and rarely leave the neighborhood so of course I’ll show him around but if I couldn’t, he would have taken his $ elsewhere and missed out on the greatness of Bushwick and its businesses.

“For artists looking to get signed or book gigs, having a professional mobile…”

I’m not a fan of “just an app” (because it’s just one more thing someone has to decide if they want to download to their phone and you don’t want to risk it). I say go with a mobile site (see me http://haveawonderful.com/musicians-mobile-needs-to-be-a-part-of-your-music-business-strategy-a-10-part-case-study/ :)

Still this is great advice…

“Jed Carlson, co-founder of ReverbNation, says “Mobile is exploding. Having a mobile app in fans’ pockets means that they see the artist’s brand every day, have an easy way to share that artist and their music with friends, and it opens yet another communications channel with push notifications. For artists looking to get signed or book gigs, having a professional mobile app creates instant credibility, and may differentiate that artist from the pack. We’ve even observed many artists signing their emails with a link to their mobile app — using it like a virtual business card.”
